Tragedy unfolds in Diamond Harbour as brother shot dead while picking up nephew

In a tragic incident in Diamond Harbour's Kuleshwar area, Mithun Sardar lost his life when he went to pick up his nephew from his sister's house. The unfortunate event occurred on Wednesday, stemming from an old dispute between Mithun's aunt and Bhasur's family over land.

Allegedly, a heated argument escalated into violence, and Mithun's sister was targeted by Bhasur family members. Paresh Mondal, the son of Bhasur, pulled out a gun during the altercation, firing shots that fatally hit Mithun in the chest and back. The victim, a resident of Usti in South 24 Parganas, was declared dead upon arrival at Diamond Harbour Hospital.

The sister of the deceased, recounting the incident, stated that Mithun was shot when he tried to intervene and save her from the ongoing conflict. She described the assailants as including Vasur's son, son-in-law, and daughter. Mithun's attempt to quell the disturbance resulted in his tragic demise.

The family turmoil over property disputes led to this unfortunate event, leaving Mithun's sister and her husband injured as well. The police of Diamond Harbour initiated an investigation, arresting four individuals, including Paresh Mondal, with efforts ongoing to ascertain how the gun came into Paresh's possession.
